Valdomiro Sanches took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Feliberto Bittor. Feliberto Bittor dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Filomeno Arano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute, Célio Rezende hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Pinheiros Capibaras FC booed when La Zabaleta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filomeno Arano didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdomiro Sanches in the 40th minute of play forced La Zabaleta's goalkeeper Feliberto Bittor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros Capibaras FC's zone, Zacarias Herauso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Chaves came out of the goal and Zacarias Herauso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zacarias Herauso was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes La Zabaleta got a freekick which was hit by Zacarias Herauso. Luís Fábio Massa thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Telmo Chaves, a very annoying self made goal in the 55th minute which led to 1-3. In the 58th minute, La Zabaleta's Armando Min seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Armando Min the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of La Zabaleta protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Armando Min had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Armando Min hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute, one of La Zabaleta:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for La Zabaleta. The referee gave Pinheiros Capibaras FC a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Célio Rezende, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of La Zabaleta's Feliberto Bittor. 1-4. Filomeno Arano's late challenge caught a Pinheiros Capibaras FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filomeno Arano helped the player get up and apologised.
