The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Txeru Montaña in the 3rd minute of play forced Club Sportivo Italiano's goalkeeper Rafael Martino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute, Severo Misael left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Sportivo Italiano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Amadeo Oxel lost his temper 10 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Club Sportivo Italiano! Txeru Montaña scored 1-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rafael Martino, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eli Villalobos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fermin Torres in the 20th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Club Sportivo Italiano's zone, Florencio Antoniano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Martino came out of the goal and Florencio Antoniano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Club Sportivo Italiano's Rafael Martino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Txeru Montaña in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Club Sportivo Italiano getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Elvio Machado hit a great ball. A well-hit corner resulted in Elvio Machado heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After 46 played minutes GreenUnited got a freekick which was hit by Domenico Solarriba. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Elvio Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Sportivo Italiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Elvio Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eli Villalobos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Fermin Torres made the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Fermin Torres took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Eli Villalobos to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 60 minutes, Severo Misael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Sportivo Italiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Severo Misael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
