Shawn Cruz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Siro Elazar went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 6th minute Froilan Erdiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shawn Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilmer Gutierrez kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Sarmiento de Resistencia's Benigno Manilan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Padilla in the 16th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Sarmiento de Resistencia's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Padilla came free, but Benigno Manilan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sarmiento de Resistencia's Benigno Manilan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Sarmiento de Resistencia from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute Siro Elazar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shawn Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 28 minutes of play, Sarmiento de Resistencia's Siro Elazar made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Shawn Cruz was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Basilio Mateus in the 34th minute of play forced Real Madrid de Guatemala's goalkeeper Shawn Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Ramos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Benigno Manilan made a huge save. After the first half Sarmiento de Resistencia were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Basilio Mateus in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Shawn Cruz saved Real Madrid de Guatemala from getting behind. 63 minutes into the match, Sarmiento de Resistencia's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Jimenez came free, but Benigno Manilan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Ramos in the 77th minute of play forced Sarmiento de Resistencia's goalkeeper Benigno Manilan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benigno Manilan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Ramos in the 79th minute of play. Siro Elazar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shawn Cruz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mauro Sosa during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Wilmer Gutierrez pulled a muscle in his leg after 85 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 85 minutes, Basilio Mateus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sarmiento de Resistencia and the Real Madrid de Guatemala players grew even worse after the yellow card. Real Madrid de Guatemala made a substitution. Cesar Zelaya replaced Wilmer Gutierrez. After a rather tough play, Sarmiento de Resistencia's Basilio Mateus got a free kick in the 89th minute. Ivan Ramos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Benigno Manilan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 1-2 came in the 97th minute when Sarbelio Mendez all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Benigno Manilan. The Sarmiento de Resistencia players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
