The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raimundo Velasco struck a weak shot in the 2nd minute. Rigoberto Olayo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pindobassu EC. In the 9th minute Narciso Arixo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Talleres's Narciso Arixo in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Pindobassu EC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 11th minute, Raimundo Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pindobassu EC's Kaká Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Arixo in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Vladimir Motta recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rigoberto Olayo. Vladimir Motta showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Pindobassu EC's José Carlos Prestes got a free kick in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Pindobassu EC's goal looked a bit too open when Hermengildo Cesario came free, but Kaká Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 played minutes Pindobassu EC got a freekick which was hit by Erivaldo Vaz. The supporters of Talleres booed when Pindobassu EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandrinho Souto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Higinio Dolfo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kaká Maia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Eugenio Vellito kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Sydney Ramalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Arixo in the 28th minute of play forced Pindobassu EC's goalkeeper Kaká Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kaká Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Arixo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Narciso Arixo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 37th minute Narciso Arixo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rigoberto Olayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After 46 played minutes Talleres got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Vellito. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Miguel Trigo to make the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Miguel Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pindobassu EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Trigo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Miguel Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Hermengildo Cesario managed to get in a good position for a shot. Talleres's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermengildo Cesario was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaká Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 79 played minutes Talleres got a freekick which was hit by Nemesio Pacorro. In the 92nd minute, Miguel Trigo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Miguel Trigo notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Talleres's Rigoberto Olayo. Rigoberto Olayo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Talleres's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
