IFK Kik's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nils-Åke Kruuse was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Kik's zone, Albert Panaitoiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kennet Åhlberg came out of the goal and Albert Panaitoiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 11th minute Albert Panaitoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kennet Åhlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Panaitoiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kennet Åhlberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Albert Panaitoiu ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Panaitoiu in the 22nd minute of play forced IFK Kik's goalkeeper Kennet Åhlberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Evert Lindberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nils-Åke Kruuse could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Ionuț Moșneanu made a huge save. In the 31st minute, Albert Panaitoiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Albert Panaitoiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kennet Åhlberg was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Nils-Åke Kruuse struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Ionuț Moșneanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IFK Kik. Kennet Åhlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albert Panaitoiu in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 42 minutes, Ferdinand Pociu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RED BLUE STAR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ferdinand Pociu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute Albert Panaitoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kennet Åhlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Panaitoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albert Panaitoiu was the one to do the kick off. Kennet Åhlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Panaitoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Kennet Åhlberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Albert Panaitoiu's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. In the 63rd minute, Rikard Wik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Victor Răcănel was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 64th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Kennet Åhlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albert Panaitoiu in the 65th minute of play. Mark Siggman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionuț Moșneanu having to interfere. IFK Kik's Kennet Åhlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasile Leucuța in the 78th minute of play. Albert Panaitoius short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Kennet Åhlberg to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Albert Panaitoiu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Kennet Åhlberg made a huge save. After 84 played minutes, RED BLUE STAR's Basarab Gavra shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kennet Åhlberg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in RED BLUE STAR reached it. Albert Panaitoiu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-2 to the left of a surprised Kennet Åhlberg 86 minutes into the match. After having played for 95 minutes, Victor Răcănel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RED BLUE STAR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victor Răcănel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The RED BLUE STAR supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing RED BLUE STAR would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
