After 4 minutes, Staffan Ekström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the IFK Tallkotte and the F.C. København players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinhard Vassing in the 20th minute of play forced IFK Tallkotte's goalkeeper Patrik Karlberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tue Wraa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ralf Wennerqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Tony Gabrielsson fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored IFK Tallkotte's protests and gave Tony Gabrielsson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of F.C. København booed when IFK Tallkotte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Gabrielsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the game, F.C. København's Thor Nersling nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrik Karlberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After a rather tough play, F.C. København's Åge Strøjer got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Reinhard Vassing kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Reinhard Vassing took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Patrik Karlberg to make any attempt to save it. The F.C. København players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
