After a rather tough play, Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Cássio Severo got a free kick in the 4th minute. Santo Cayo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pombal 2003 F.C.. When Severino Di Giovanni came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Club de la Serpiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Severino Di Giovanni couldn't finish the play. After having played for 35 minutes, Cícero Ribeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pombal 2003 F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Cícero Ribeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emilio Leheren charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emilio Leheren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emilio Leheren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gabriel Iyan was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 44 minutes into the match. The supporters of Pombal 2003 F.C. booed when Club de la Serpiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Iyan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 46 minutes into the game, Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Cícero Ribeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santo Cayo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bruno Lago made a kick off. Santo Cayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cícero Ribeiro in the 55th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Toninho Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pombal 2003 F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Toninho Duarte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santo Cayo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santo Cayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Lago in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Club de la Serpiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristo Cordeal to maneuver through the defense. Amancio Radowitzky fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilson Arósio having to interfere. Gilson Arósio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emilio Leheren in the 86th minute of play. The supporters of Club de la Serpiente booed when Pombal 2003 F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duarte Pontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club de la Serpiente's Cristo Cordeal shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 88th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gilson Arósio but with some difficulty. Santo Cayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Lago, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
