Franck vrolijx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Aguirre, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Aguirre in the 47th minute of play forced Royal Antwerp FC's goalkeeper Franck vrolijx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Sporting de Gijón's Marcial Benvido was substituted for Rosendo Orixe. Sporting de Gijón walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
