After 72 played minutes, Sporting de Gijón's Dalmacio Castel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper George Agachi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting de Gijón reached it. Alin Şoltuz charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alin Şoltuz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Galati Harbour Cats getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Alin Şoltuz hit a great ball. George Agachi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelino Pelagius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcial Benvido might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over George Agachi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcial Benvido ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Galati Harbour Cats defense, Casimiro Galindo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of George Agachi. The Galati Harbour Cats fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that George Agachi should have stopped the shot. After 87 minutes of play Galati Harbour Cats's Petruț Vlăsiu was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Galati Harbour Cats was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calistrat Glăvan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Galati Harbour Cats's zone, Angelino Pelagius stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. George Agachi came out of the goal and Angelino Pelagius tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcial Benvido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
