Ariel Urbasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Evelio Orzaize sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 played minutes ⛥Milrayitas⛤ got a freekick which was hit by Delmiro Martxel. 20 minutes into the match, ⛥Milrayitas⛤'s goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Benvido came free, but Elpidio Matro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Delmiro Martxel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to ⛥Milrayitas⛤ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Jeremias Abechuco hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Casimiro Galindo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Elpidio Matro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Angelino Pelagius kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Elpidio Matro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Casimiro Galindo, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. If Jeremias Abechuco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, Teodoro Niva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elpidio Matro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casimiro Galindo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Ariel Urbasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Evelio Orzaize managed to get in a good position for a shot. ⛥Milrayitas⛤'s supporters rose to their feet, but Evelio Orzaize was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ariel Urbasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Casimiro Galindo in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elpidio Matro saved ⛥Milrayitas⛤ from getting behind. If Jeremias Abechuco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Roman Salomone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Felipo in the 48th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Ariel Urbasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Alberto Conrao replaced Blas Urdin. ⛥Milrayitas⛤'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jeremias Abechuco in the 50th minute. After taking down the ball on ⛥Milrayitas⛤'s corner Jeremias Abechuco fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ariel Urbasa quite easily take care of the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Casimiro Galindo to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Casimiro Galindo in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elpidio Matro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jeremias Abechuco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Urbasa having to interfere. When Angelino Pelagius fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Angelino Pelagius a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of ⛥Milrayitas⛤ booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelino Pelagius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Faustino Burutzagi in the 65th minute of play. In the 66th minute of the match Jeremias Abechuco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ariel Urbasa skillfully saved the ball. After 67 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Conrao. Evelio Orzaize struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Ariel Urbasa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ⛥Milrayitas⛤. In the 70th minute, Jeremias Abechuco made a precise shot to the right of Ariel Urbasa. Sporting de Gijón's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Jeremias Abechuco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Ariel Urbasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcial Benvido's late challenge caught a ⛥Milrayitas⛤'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcial Benvido helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th minute of the match Jeremias Abechuco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ariel Urbasa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the ⛥Milrayitas⛤ defense, Casimiro Galindo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elpidio Matro. The ⛥Milrayitas⛤ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elpidio Matro should have stopped the shot. When Roman Salomone came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the ⛥Milrayitas⛤ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roman Salomone couldn't finish the play. Although ⛥Milrayitas⛤ had been in control for most of the match, Sporting de Gijón still came away with the win.
