The Winksele 2016 fans' excitement grew in the 39th match minute when Winksele 2016's Jorre Sproten looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Diego Carredano fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Astillero del Guayas's protests and gave Diego Carredano a yellow card for diving instead. Astillero del Guayas's Corozo Nevares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorre Sproten in the 80th minute of play. In the 85th minute Diego Carredano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Iven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Videl Amaya. In the 94th minute, Zaquiel Boñar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Corozo Nevares successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The Astillero del Guayas support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
