The tension between the Montevideo and the Caaguazu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Belmiro Abraão hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Baiardo Combarros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baiardo Combarros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tadeu Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Aurre Belorado dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ruy Loureiro, 1-1. Jaime Reis charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 21 played minutes Caaguazu got a freekick which was hit by Fortunato Barcaiztegui. In the 22nd minute of the match Belmiro Abraão shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baiardo Combarros showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 23rd minute Tadeu Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baiardo Combarros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aurre Belorado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Ruy Loureiro made a huge save. German Canado hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. When Aurre Belorado came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Caaguazu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurre Belorado couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Aurre Belorado kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ruy Loureiro. That made the score 3-1 in the 31 minute of play. Ruy Loureiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from German Canado in the 34th minute of the match. In the 35th minute, Tadeu Correia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Baiardo Combarros was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Fortunato Barcaiztegui charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fortunato Barcaiztegui the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Montevideo booed when Caaguazu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fortunato Barcaiztegui didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Tadeu Correia notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Caaguazu's Baiardo Combarros. Baiardo Combarros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Carlos Tróia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the game, German Canado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-3. Ruy Loureiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aurre Belorado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Ruy Loureiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 64 minutes, Mancio Rapela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caaguazu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mancio Rapela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gartzea Arvelo scored 5-3 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruy Loureiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ruy Loureiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from German Canado in the 74th minute of the match. In the 74th match minute, Caaguazu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cordareo Lazcano to maneuver through the defense. Caaguazu were furious when Cordareo Lazcano was red carded, 78 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 78th minute, one of Caaguazu:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caaguazu. 85 minutes into the game, Mancio Rapela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caaguazu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montevideo the free kick. A collision led to Caaguazu getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Mancio Rapela hit a great ball. Zé Carlos Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baiardo Combarros having to interfere. 88 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Zé Carlos Tróia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Baiardo Combarros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-5. Baiardo Combarros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tadeu Correia in the 100th minute of the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
