In the 4th match minute, Locura Académica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Natal to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the game, Gerardo Rufo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Andy Gaston was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Felicien Schwartz kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. During the 20th minute of the match Carlos Natal completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Carlos Natal a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Edelmiro Stephen hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Locura Académica's Nicasio Gabirel got a free kick in the 28th minute. Santiago Guillelmo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Pena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andy Gaston showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerardo Rufo in the 33rd minute of the match. Reynaldo Thacker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Guillelmo having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reynaldo Thacker in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Santiago Guillelmo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 42 minutes into the match, Jagiellonia Denver's goal looked a bit too open when Gerardo Rufo came free, but Andy Gaston reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 43 minutes, Jonas Argider managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Locura Académica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonas Argider was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomás Baldovino during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Locura Académica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Jagiellonia Denver:s goal. In the 48th minute there was a penalty for Jagiellonia Denver. Odilon Hodges stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Santiago Guillelmo. 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gerardo Rufo made the kick off in the second half. Locura Académica's Santiago Guillelmo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Locura Académica from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gerardo Rufo in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andy Gaston prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Odilon Hodges hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Gerardo Rufo took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andy Gaston. Andy Gaston dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Gilbert Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Guillelmo having to interfere. 70 minutes into the game, Locura Académica's Gerardo Rufo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andy Gaston made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. In the 76th minute, Jonas Argider got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Rufo in the 78th minute of play forced Jagiellonia Denver's goalkeeper Andy Gaston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 79 played minutes Jagiellonia Denver got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Thacker. Andy Gaston took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Rufo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 80 minutes, Felicien Schwartz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jagiellonia Denver and the Locura Académica players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Locura Académica booed when Jagiellonia Denver was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felicien Schwartz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palmer Gilmore's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Santiago Guillelmo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Jagiellonia Denver's Reynaldo Thacker sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santiago Guillelmo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Andy Gaston stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerardo Rufo's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Jagiellonia Denver's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
