The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. C.D. Pepino’s's Domingo Tolhauzsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sylven Van der Meiren in the 3rd minute of play. After 8 minutes, Xulián Farias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.D. Pepino’s and the Club Brugge players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th match minute, C.D. Pepino’s was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xulián Farias to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute Sylven Van der Meiren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingo Tolhauzsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fredrik Wijgaert scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Domingo Tolhauzsen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With 17 minutes on the clock, Nahuel Briones commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in C.D. Pepino’s fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 16th minute. Penalty! Domingo Tolhauzsen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sylven Van der Meiren went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. 25 minutes into the match, C.D. Pepino’s's goal looked a bit too open when Sylven Van der Meiren came free, but Domingo Tolhauzsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xabel Wood's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jef De Langhe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarno Leemans in the 28th minute of play forced C.D. Pepino’s's goalkeeper Domingo Tolhauzsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Sylven Van der Meiren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingo Tolhauzsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Sylven Van der Meiren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Domingo Tolhauzsen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Sylven Van der Meiren took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Domingo Tolhauzsen. Domingo Tolhauzsen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Domingo Tolhauzsen came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Club Brugge's Sylven Van der Meiren. But to his dismay, Sylven Van der Meiren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xabel Wood stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, C.D. Pepino’s was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xabel Wood to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute Sylven Van der Meiren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingo Tolhauzsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domingo Tolhauzsen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fredrik Wijgaert in the 84th minute. 87 minutes into the game, Sylven Van der Meiren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Brugge's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.D. Pepino’s the free kick. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Sylven Van der Meiren got a free kick in the 87th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sylven Van der Meiren in the 89th minute of play forced C.D. Pepino’s's goalkeeper Domingo Tolhauzsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of C.D. Pepino’s booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roben De Tapp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club Brugge played a much better game than C.D. Pepino’s and deserved their victory. The C.D. Pepino’s players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
