In the 20th minute Sylven Van der Meiren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedicto Eli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Aquilino Mattin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jef De Langhe. Club Brugge's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aquilino Mattin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The Club Brugge fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jef De Langhe should have stopped the shot.

The referee ignored Club Brugge's protests and gave Sylven Van der Meiren a yellow card for diving instead. Rene Senon was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 92nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 94th match minute, CA Trapito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erasmo Guillelmus to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Soren Leenders got a free kick in the 97th minute. Rene Senon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 98th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jef De Langhe. Club Brugge's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jef De Langhe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquilino Mattin in the 99th minute of play. CA Trapito's Aquilino Mattin got a good chance for a goal in the 100th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Club Brugge players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
