A collision led to Gençlerbirliği getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Güner Tarancı hit a great ball. After 24 minutes, Güner Tarancı mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gençlerbirliği and the Octavia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 23rd minute, one of Gençlerbirliği:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gençlerbirliği. After a rather tough play, Gençlerbirliği's Kaan Akboğa got a free kick in the 28th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bazil Aballe in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 38 minutes into the match, Gençlerbirliği's Rıfkı Tanpınar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luar Abadie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Osoro Abalos scored 0-3 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rıfkı Tanpınar to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Yavuz Selimhan Açıkel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luar Abadie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derviş Sendur was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 67th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 75 played minutes Octavia got a freekick which was hit by Firmin Abello. When Derviş Sendur came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Gençlerbirliği fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Derviş Sendur couldn't finish the play. If Rıfkı Tanpınar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Euloxu Abancens in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ahmet Hayri Eryilmaz saved Gençlerbirliği from getting behind. Rıfkı Tanpınar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luar Abadie having to interfere. Gençlerbirliği's Derviş Sendur got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Derviş Sendur off the ground. Herminio Abechuco, 89 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Perrando Abello in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. Yavuz Selimhan Açıkel charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
