The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ariel Ur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremias Errapel, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute, Elias Mercurio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Maximino Afonso. The goal made the score 1-0. LegionArgentina's Ariel Ur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Botello in the 11th minute of play. Ariel Ur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flavio Lauren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ariel Ur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Jerico in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Florida Gulf Coast's goalkeeper Maximino Afonso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elias Mercurio. In the 32nd minute, Fabio Jerico left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Florida Gulf Coast fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 34 minutes, Hipolito Alvarez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the LegionArgentina and the Florida Gulf Coast players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet as Feliciano Nastasio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Maximino Afonso. That made the score 2-1 in the 44 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elias Mercurio to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Florida Gulf Coast got a freekick which was hit by Flavio Lauren. After a rather tough play, Florida Gulf Coast's Ciro Corderun got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 60th minute Jeremias Errapel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Ur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fidel Maureo's late challenge caught a LegionArgentina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fidel Maureo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd match minute, Florida Gulf Coast was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fidel Maureo to maneuver through the defense. LegionArgentina's Robustiano Incendio got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of LegionArgentina booed when Florida Gulf Coast was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Corderun didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 66 played minutes, LegionArgentina's Arnaldo Bertol shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Maximino Afonso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in LegionArgentina reached it. If Jeremias Errapel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, LegionArgentina's Ariel Ur got control of the ball when Fabio Jerico tried to sneak it across the goal line. Florida Gulf Coast's Maximino Afonso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Mercurio in the 77th minute of play. LegionArgentina's Ariel Ur proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save LegionArgentina from getting a goal against them. LegionArgentina's Ariel Ur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremias Errapel in the 92nd minute of play.
