The SRP-Laguna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto Barbosa should have stopped the shot. Nelsinho Mendes hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Ciro Orlandi scored 0-2 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Barbosa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Roberto Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciro Orlandi in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SRP-Laguna's Ivo Sergipano got a free kick in the 28th minute. Romeu Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The SRP-Laguna fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when SRP-Laguna's Romeu Martins looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Fabrizio Di Silvio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ciro Orlandi to strike the kick off in the second half. Leonel Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute, Romeu Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlo Del Giudice made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeu Martins in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to AC Roma getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Alfonso Buffone hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeu Martins in the 79th minute of play forced AC Roma's goalkeeper Carlo Del Giudice to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AC Roma's Carlo Del Giudice played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Mendes in the 93rd minute of play. When Filippo Ricciuti fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Roma's protests and gave Filippo Ricciuti a yellow card for diving instead. Rubens Brasil struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Carlo Del Giudice didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SRP-Laguna. Romeu Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlo Del Giudice having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see SRP-Laguna lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
