An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo de Moraes in the 5th minute of play forced SRP-Laguna's goalkeeper Roberto Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute, José Fernandez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SeleSantos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 10 minutes into the game, SeleSantos FC's Abelardo de Moraes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roberto Barbosa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The supporters of SRP-Laguna booed when SeleSantos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tales Siqueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Arantes, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Abelardo de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Roberto Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ivo Sergipano's late challenge caught a SeleSantos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivo Sergipano helped the player get up and apologised. Tales Siqueira came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by SRP-Laguna's Romeu Martins. But to his dismay, Romeu Martins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Tales Siqueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeu Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Abelardo de Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to SeleSantos FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. José Fernandez hit a great ball. Donato Arantes hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Rubens Brasil's late challenge caught a SeleSantos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rubens Brasil helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st match minute, SRP-Laguna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubens Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Tales Siqueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeu Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abelardo de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Roberto Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Romeu Martins made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Vitinho Pirani ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roberto Barbosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. If Rubens Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Romeu Martins received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tales Siqueira came out and tried to block the shot, but Romeu Martins slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 60th minute. José Fernandez scored 4-2 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Barbosa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to SRP-Laguna getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Ivo Sergipano hit a great ball. José Fernandez took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roberto Barbosa. Roberto Barbosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-2. Abelardo de Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, SeleSantos FC's Marcelinho Teles got a free kick in the 77th minute. Roberto Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo de Moraes in the 79th minute of play. Roberto Barbosa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Fernandez's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. 83 minutes into the game, Abelardo de Moraes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SeleSantos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SRP-Laguna the free kick. Abelardo de Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Tales Siqueira was out of position in the 91 minute of play, and Ivo Sergipano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ivo Sergipano really showed his touch with that goal: 5-3. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. SeleSantos FC fully deserved thier win.
