The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rui Falcão during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Royal Knights FC's Rui Falcão got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Claudinho Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Claudinho Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd minute, Claudinho Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 5th minute Fernandinho Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Fantini in the 7th minute of play forced Poetass FC's goalkeeper Cássio de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Olavo Carioca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luís Guilherme Novaes. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. If Allan Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cássio de Senna didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fernandinho Fantini went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Claudinho Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Guilherme Novaes having to interfere. Dedê Rossi's late challenge caught a Poetass FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dedê Rossi helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Poetass FC booed when Royal Knights FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedê Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute, Juarês de Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 30 played minutes Poetass FC's Genílson Andrade stole the ball from his opponents and shot the ball towards the upper left corner, but Luís Guilherme Novaes stretched himself as far as he could, and stopped the ball from passing the line. robbing Royal Knights FC of the goal. With a little luck, Royal Knights FC's Luís Guilherme Novaes got control of the ball when Claudinho Saldanha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cássio de Senna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 45 minutes into the match, Poetass FC's goal looked a bit too open when Juarês de Castro came free, but Cássio de Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olavo Carioca to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Claudinho Saldanha put it in 4-2 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Guilherme Novaes. Luís Guilherme Novaes came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Poetass FC's Claudinho Saldanha. But to his dismay, Claudinho Saldanha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. Claudinho Saldanha might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Guilherme Novaes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claudinho Saldanha ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Guilherme Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute, Claudinho Saldanha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Guilherme Novaes was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-2. In the 73rd match minute, Poetass FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Augusto Barreto to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Royal Knights FC booed when Poetass FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genílson Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 80 minutes of play, Poetass FC's Claudinho Saldanha made it 7-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luís Guilherme Novaes was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 83rd minute, Royal Knights FC's Juarês de Castro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 7-3. 95 minutes into the match, Noel Azevedo notched a goal, 8-3, to the right of Royal Knights FC's Luís Guilherme Novaes. Luís Guilherme Novaes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Poetass FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Royal Knights FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
