The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Calvino Lozano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U.D. Mancini's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Audax Metropolitano the free kick. After 5 played minutes U.D. Mancini got a freekick which was hit by Calvino Lozano. In the 9th minute of the match, Goiz Calderon got a very nice opportunity to score, but Falcão Severo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Luís Paulo Maia charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Paulo Maia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 10 played minutes Clube Audax Metropolitano got a freekick which was hit by Luís Paulo Maia. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Falcão Severo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvino Lozano in the 16th minute of play. A well-hit corner resulted in Calvino Lozano heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After 19 minutes, Germano Gerber mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clube Audax Metropolitano and the U.D. Mancini players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th match minute, Clube Audax Metropolitano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Germano Gerber to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, U.D. Mancini's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Fontes came free, but Tiburcio Cienfuegos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tiburcio Cienfuegos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the game, Clube Audax Metropolitano's Tomás Borges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tiburcio Cienfuegos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Miguel Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Tiburcio Cienfuegos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute Calvino Lozano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Falcão Severo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Pericles Gabas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Tomás Borges made the kick off in the second half. Bruninho Araújo kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Miguel Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Germano Gerber hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Clube Audax Metropolitano made a substitution. In the 96th match minute, Clube Audax Metropolitano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Clube Audax Metropolitano had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
