The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute of the match Hansjörg Selke shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Esteve Tonio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Esteve Tonio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Halil Winskowsky in the 10th minute of play. Faustino Guter charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Faustino Guter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Faustino Guter hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vinará FC booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Halil Winskowsky didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Halil Winskowsky sped through Vinará FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Esteve Tonio. Hansjörg Selke took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Esteve Tonio. Vinará FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Halil Winskowsky fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Tonio having to interfere. Esteve Tonio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Halil Winskowsky's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Matias Wedekind hit a great ball. In the 35th minute of the match Eleuterio Frederico shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Johann Scheuerer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

The wind increased when Gustavo Aznar made the kick off in the second half. If Gustavo Aznar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gustavo Aznar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Johann Scheuerer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Johann Scheuerer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Faustino Guter in the 57th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sven Börger during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vinará FC made a substitution. Nunez Txaran replaced Eleuterio Frederico. Sven Börger kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the game, Vinará FC's Nunez Txaran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Johann Scheuerer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Nunez Txaran's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Johann Scheuerer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. Although Vinará FC had been in control for most of the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen still came away with the win.
