In the 5th match minute, FCPorto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeferino Palma to maneuver through the defense. Gustaw Rosen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romão Bandeira in the 23rd minute of the match. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for MKS Legion Częstochowa! The goalkeeper, Gustaw Rosen, was totally fooled by FCPorto's Paulo Liberato, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. MKS Legion Częstochowa's Gustaw Rosen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save MKS Legion Częstochowa from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute of the match Wasyl Dytrych shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Filipe Padilha showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romão Bandeira in the 39th minute of play forced MKS Legion Częstochowa's goalkeeper Gustaw Rosen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 44 minutes, Jan Sobieski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MKS Legion Częstochowa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan Sobieski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

A collision led to FCPorto getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Damião Lisboa hit a great ball. Basílio Bentes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Gustaw Rosen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basílio Bentes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. FCPorto were victorious despite being under pressure from MKS Legion Częstochowa for much of the match.
