When Clemente Beila fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's protests and gave Clemente Beila a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to A.D Atlético Villa Gesell getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Clemente Beila hit a great ball. Filomeno Atarrabi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Erik Fransson, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The audience was convinced that Per-Erik Rydberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filomeno Atarrabi was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After a defensive mix-up in A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's zone, Per-Erik Rydberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filomeno Atarrabi came out of the goal and Per-Erik Rydberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 72 minutes into the match, Karl-Erik Fransson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Filomeno Atarrabi. Filomeno Atarrabi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 76th minute, Karl-Erik Fransson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Filomeno Atarrabi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. When the final whistle sounded Oldham Athletic left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than A.D Atlético Villa Gesell.
