The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Erik Fransson in the 5th minute of play forced MARAZZINO's goalkeeper Yusuf Ziya Gökçek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to MARAZZINO getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Raşit Kutsalmis hit a great ball. Yusuf Ziya Gökçek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Per-Arne Nyberg in the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Muzaffer Kongar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Folke Smed was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Raşit Kutsalmis hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After 16 minutes, Muzaffer Kongar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MARAZZINO and the Oldham Athletic players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th match minute, MARAZZINO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Muzaffer Kongar to maneuver through the defense. Yusuf Ziya Gökçek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Erik Fransson in the 18th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Oldham Athletic's Karl-Erik Fransson got a free kick in the 19th minute. 21 minutes into the game, Per-Arne Nyberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oldham Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MARAZZINO the free kick. In the 21st minute, Per-Arne Nyberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 28 played minutes, MARAZZINO's Gürkan Seralp shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Folke Smed came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MARAZZINO reached it. In the 31st minute, Karl-Erik Fransson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oldham Athletic fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 34th minute, Abdurrezzak Çetintürk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. MARAZZINO's Yusuf Ziya Gökçek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per-Arne Nyberg in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, MARAZZINO's Hasan Ali Oksay got a free kick in the 39th minute. Folke Smed stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hasan Ali Oksay's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Hökkvist in the 44th minute of play forced MARAZZINO's goalkeeper Yusuf Ziya Gökçek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Hökkvist got free with Yusuf Ziya Gökçek in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hasan Ali Oksay stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 53 minutes into the game, when Leif Vedholm put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Oldham Athletic fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 53rd minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Folke Smed, was totally fooled by MARAZZINO's Gürkan Seralp, who 56 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Gürkan Seralp hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. In the 59th match minute, MARAZZINO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gürkan Seralp to maneuver through the defense. Yusuf Ziya Gökçek came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Oldham Athletic's Karl-Erik Fransson. But to his dismay, Karl-Erik Fransson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. In the 72nd minute, Karl-Erik Fransson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Folke Smed made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hasan Ali Oksay in the 74th minute. After a rather tough play, Oldham Athletic's Karl-Erik Fransson got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Karl-Erik Fransson in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yusuf Ziya Gökçek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Karl-Erik Fransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oldham Athletic were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing MARAZZINO to leave the ground with a draw.
