Spectators: 7490 (Terracing: 5618, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Karl-Erik Fransson started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute of the match, Jeremias Atauri tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Folke Smed saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 12 played minutes Oldham Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Söderberg. Omar Telmo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Erik Fransson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Folke Smed stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jeremias Atauri's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Caricancha's Jeremias Atauri was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 28th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Denis Orain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Folke Smed tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Per-Arne Nyberg kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 37th match minute, Caricancha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Honorato Millrick to maneuver through the defense. Omar Telmo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per-Erik Rydberg in the 40th minute of play. Denis Orain recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Denis Orain fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Folke Smed having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeremias Atauri to make the kick off. Folke Smed showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremias Atauri in the 51st minute of the match. Caricancha were furious when Joaquin Matthew was red carded, 53 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 52 minutes into the game, one of Caricancha:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 1-1 came through a penalty shot after 54 played minutes, when Oldham Athletic:s Jimmy Linquist calmly waited for Caricancha:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. In the 60th minute Karl-Erik Fransson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Telmo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Caricancha:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Oldham Athletic:s goal. In the 72nd minute, Oldham Athletic's Leif Vedholm ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Omar Telmo. Omar Telmo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. If Henrik Söderberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Caricancha's goalkeeper Omar Telmo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Per-Erik Rydberg. Karl-Erik Fransson scored 1-4 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Omar Telmo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Oldham Athletic getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Hubert Backlund hit a great ball. The Oldham Athletic players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
