The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Hatayspor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tuncer Cantekin to maneuver through the defense. After 26 minutes of play Hatayspor's Aybar Soysaldı was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Hatayspor getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Aybar Soysaldı hit a great ball. 31 minutes into the match, Hatayspor's goalkeeper Tanju Tecmil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Viktor Wiberg. After a rather tough play, Hatayspor's Ahmet Gündüz Yesari got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Hannes Johansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ahmet Gündüz Yesari in the 38th minute of play. Feridun Gazel charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Feridun Gazel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
