The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Rodolfo Flores fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez Sarsfield's protests and gave Rodolfo Flores a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd match minute, Velez Sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Flores to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute, Rodolfo Flores hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Real Kuskatan C.F.'s zone, Benicio Diagur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raúl García came out of the goal and Benicio Diagur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute, Ramon Mejia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 20 minutes, Genaro Argina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Velez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genaro Argina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Uriel Raymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Madariaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 32nd minute Isaac Marcones shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raúl García saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Uriel Raymon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Madariaga in the 34th minute of play. Uriel Raymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramon Mejia, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramon Mejia in the 40th minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Velez Sarsfield's Isaac Marcones to fire away a dangerous shot which Raúl García despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Isaac Marcones made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Real Kuskatan C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Isaac Marcones came free, but Raúl García reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Benicio Diagur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaac Marcones received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Raúl García tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the match, Real Kuskatan C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Isaac Marcones came free, but Raúl García reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute Humberto Madariaga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uriel Raymon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benicio Diagur's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raúl García read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Genaro Argina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raúl García was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Velez Sarsfield's Genaro Argina got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when Real Kuskatan C.F. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Escalante didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87th minute Humberto Madariaga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uriel Raymon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Real Kuskatan C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Isaac Marcones came free, but Raúl García reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Real Kuskatan C.F. supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Velez Sarsfield's performance. The match ended with a win for Velez Sarsfield.
