In the 17th minute Téo Trancoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raúl García saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Palmeiras's Márcio Freitas got control of the ball when Edwin Zaldaña tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 27 minutes, Téo Trancoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Téo Trancoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Márcio Freitas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franklin Leguizamon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute, Palmeiras's Perivaldo Maciel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Perivaldo Maciel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Palmeiras protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Perivaldo Maciel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palmeiras! Palmeiras:s Márcio Freitas showed great skill when he stopped Mariano Liborio:s penalty. Raúl García made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Trancoso in the 40th minute of play. Franklin Leguizamon charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Franklin Leguizamon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Real Kuskatan C.F. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Leguizamon didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Téo Trancoso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Real Kuskatan C.F.'s zone, Ademir Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raúl García came out of the goal and Ademir Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 62 minutes into the game, Ramon Mejia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Márcio Freitas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ademir Senna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raúl García read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Real Kuskatan C.F.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ademir Senna fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Márcio Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edwin Zaldaña in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Ademir Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ronaldinho Cosme struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Raúl García didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmeiras. Oswaldo Escalante charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Real Kuskatan C.F. were victorious despite being under pressure from Palmeiras for much of the match.
