Willian Severo's late challenge caught a GD JULIO DINIS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Willian Severo helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had been going on for 5 minutes, GD JULIO DINIS's André Andrade got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gilmar de Mendonça. André Andrade was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 11th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Gilmar de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Aires, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. GD JULIO DINIS's Geraldo Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gilmar de Mendonça stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geraldo Lopes's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Gustavo Gentil's late challenge caught a Botafogo AP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustavo Gentil helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Botafogo AP booed when GD JULIO DINIS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Gentil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geraldo Lopes struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Gilmar de Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GD JULIO DINIS. 33 minutes into the match, GD JULIO DINIS's goal looked a bit too open when Caco Matos came free, but Viriato Horta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led Botafogo AP's Guto Paraense to fire away a dangerous shot which Viriato Horta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 41 minutes, Gentil Quaresma mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GD JULIO DINIS and the Botafogo AP players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for GD JULIO DINIS! Edson Tavares made a great header on Botafogo AP's corner, it was just that GD JULIO DINIS's Viriato Horta managed to reach the ball for a save. Viriato Horta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Matos in the 45th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Geraldo Aires got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Gustavo Gentil might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilmar de Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustavo Gentil ran back to his position shaking his head. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Caco Matos was the one to do the kick off. Caco Matos's late challenge caught a GD JULIO DINIS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caco Matos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Botafogo AP getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Caco Matos hit a great ball. After 57 minutes, Caco Matos made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. GD JULIO DINIS's Viriato Horta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Geraldo Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gustavo Gentil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Gilmar de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Botafogo AP's Guto Paraense got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 90th minute Gustavo Gentil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Gentil Quaresma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GD JULIO DINIS were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
