The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Fire Devils booed when Alvinegro Carioca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Augusto Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 8 minutes of play, Fire Devils's Billy Waller made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Samuel Pontes was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 11 minutes, Remo Espa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fire Devils and the Alvinegro Carioca players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Alvinegro Carioca booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remo Espa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dave Drescher succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 15th playminute. José Augusto Quirino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vladimir Schnyder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Augusto Quirino went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. José Augusto Quirino struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Vladimir Schnyder didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alvinegro Carioca. Vladimir Schnyder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chicão Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A collision led to Alvinegro Carioca getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Reginaldo Paraibano hit a great ball. Caio Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Vladimir Schnyder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Samuel Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Drescher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Dave Drescher kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Samuel Pontes. That made the score 3-1 in the 38 minute of play.

The wind increased when Chicão Tepedino made the kick off in the second half. Vladimir Schnyder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caio Cabral in the 52nd minute. A collision led to Alvinegro Carioca getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Reginaldo Paraibano hit a great ball. After 58 minutes, Dave Drescher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fire Devils and the Alvinegro Carioca players grew even worse after the yellow card. Billy Waller took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Samuel Pontes. Alvinegro Carioca's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Fire Devils's Dave Drescher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuel Pontes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Samuel Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Janosch Bluom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samuel Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Drescher, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 94th minute, Leonard Schnyder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee ended the match the Fire Devils players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
