The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Lino Badalić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Robert Palunko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wieslaw Cerocki in the 8th minute of play. Bogumil Kaczor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rikard Hozjan in the 10th minute of play. Ajax's Bogumil Kaczor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dejan Filip in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Gustav Barbir made a precise shot to the right of Bogumil Kaczor. Ajax's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Bogumil Kaczor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Izidor Benko in the 24th minute of the match. After 31 minutes, Tadeusz Lagiewniki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ajax and the GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ booed when Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tadeusz Lagiewniki didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Rikard Hozjan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bogumil Kaczor was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Bogumil Kaczor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Izidor Benko, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ajax's zone, Dejan Filip stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bogumil Kaczor came out of the goal and Dejan Filip tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute Dejan Filip shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bogumil Kaczor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bogumil Kaczor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rikard Hozjan in the 48th minute of the match. After the first half GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Izidor Benko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dobromir Klimkiewicz in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robert Palunko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ajax's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Rikard Hozjan scored to the left of an out of position Bogumil Kaczor, making the score, 0-4. After 74 played minutes Ajax got a freekick which was hit by Tadeusz Lagiewniki. Bogumil Kaczor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Izidor Benko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Rikard Hozjan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 82 played minutes Ajax got a freekick which was hit by Tadeusz Lagiewniki. In the 88th minute, Izidor Benko fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 89th minute, Rikard Hozjan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bogumil Kaczor was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Bogumil Kaczor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Izidor Benko, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. When Rikard Hozjan came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the GNK Dinamo Zagreb™ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rikard Hozjan couldn't finish the play. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s Izidor Benko got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. GNK Dinamo Zagreb™'s fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
