In the 14th minute, Granicerul's Doru Corbeanu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 17th match minute, FC Politehnica Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorin Lungu to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Granicerul's Doru Corbeanu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After having played for 21 minutes, Emanuel Cărtărescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Granicerul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Cărtărescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Granicerul's goal looked a bit too open when Nichifor Borogeanu came free, but Narcis Coman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Granicerul's Narcis Coman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nichifor Borogeanu in the 30th minute of play. Radu Jușcă hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After 35 played minutes Granicerul got a freekick which was hit by Dorel Albescu. After some careless play in the Granicerul defense, Nicu Isăilă kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Narcis Coman. The Granicerul fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Narcis Coman should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, FC Politehnica Timisoara's Lucrețiu Manolache got control of the ball when Radu Jușcă tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nichifor Borogeanu in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Narcis Coman saved Granicerul from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nichifor Borogeanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Granicerul's goalkeeper Narcis Coman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nichifor Borogeanu. Nichifor Borogeanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 56 minutes into the match, FC Politehnica Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Toader Gabrea came free, but Lucrețiu Manolache reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Toader Gabrea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Granicerul's supporters rose to their feet, but Toader Gabrea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucrețiu Manolache breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Doru Corbeanu struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Lucrețiu Manolache didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Granicerul. If Dorel Albescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Doru Corbeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucrețiu Manolache having to interfere. Lucrețiu Manolache showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toader Gabrea, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The supporters of Granicerul booed when FC Politehnica Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavius Amarandei didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nichifor Borogeanu came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Narcis Coman could save by the left post. Radu Jușcă charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Radu Jușcă the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
