Egídio Reis came out of the goal and Célio Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tostão Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tarcisio Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. With his leg Egídio Reis managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Sipo EC's Célio Cardoso fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tostão Maranhense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tarcisio Baptista's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. In the 16th minute Thiago Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egídio Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Egídio Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thiago Cruz in the 22nd minute of play. Célio Cardoso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Egídio Reis made a huge save. When Bernardo Soeiro fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leões do Sul 53's protests and gave Bernardo Soeiro a yellow card for diving instead. Bernardo Soeiro hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Célio Cardoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Egídio Reis was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Ronaldinho de Castro's late challenge caught a Sipo EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 62nd minute of the game Marquinhos Pitta made a throw-in which Célio Cardoso played forward. Agostinho Tasso kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Valdir Dracena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when Leões do Sul 53 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Egídio Reis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Célio Cardoso's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago Cruz couldn't finish the play. After having played for 81 minutes, Wágner do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sipo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wágner do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sipo EC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Simão Custódio in the 84th minute. After taking down the ball on Sipo EC's corner Simão Custódio fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Egídio Reis quite easily take care of the ball. In the 94th minute, Mané Corrêa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Sipo EC's Célio Cardoso in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Leões do Sul 53's goalie prevented a goal.
