After 13 minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ingvar Vedholm who took care of the corner kick. Danilo Frascuelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mats Godholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After a rather tough play, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Roman Kismi got a free kick in the 15th minute. FC Snipers's Olov Groth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Kismi in the 21st minute of play. When Ivan Johansson fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Snipers's protests and gave Ivan Johansson a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Snipers's Ivan Johansson got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the match, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goal looked a bit too open when Mats Godholm came free, but Danilo Frascuelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andreas Melberg hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. A collision led to NEWELL´S OLD BOYS getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Adolfo Caitano hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Amancio Magdaleno made the kick off in the second half. Danilo Frascuelo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mats Godholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 62 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Fernendo. Danilo Frascuelo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lennart Svensson in the 68th minute of play. Roman Kismi's late challenge caught a FC Snipers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roman Kismi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th match minute, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Kismi to maneuver through the defense. 71 minutes into the game, Aurelio Hitz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
