Filomeno Rencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romão Miranda in the 27th minute of the match. Garanhão do SUL's Romão Miranda got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raimundo Delgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Efrain Mark in the 29th minute of play. Patrício Poças struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Filomeno Rencio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garanhão do SUL. In the 37th minute, Silvério Sabrosa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Garanhão do SUL fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. A collision led to Cardiff City FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Martin Licerio hit a great ball. Filinto Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After the first half Garanhão do SUL were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Silvério Sabrosa's late challenge caught a Cardiff City FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Silvério Sabrosa helped the player get up and apologised. Raimundo Delgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efrain Mark, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garanhão do SUL's Patrício Poças got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 60 minutes, Abelardo Asur mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cardiff City FC and the Garanhão do SUL players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cardiff City FC's Abelardo Asur got a free kick in the 60th minute. Filomeno Rencio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silvério Sabrosa in the 61st minute. When Silvério Sabrosa came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Garanhão do SUL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvério Sabrosa couldn't finish the play. 72 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Efrain Mark came free, but Raimundo Delgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Romão Miranda lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Filomeno Rencio.
