Gino Britto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. André Romero charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romão Miranda in the 36th minute of play forced Que se abra o mar's goalkeeper Gino Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaspar Valadão charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaspar Valadão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romão Miranda was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Marquinhos Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Romão Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. In the 67th minute, Patrício Poças got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Garanhão do SUL's Álvaro Calçada was substituted for Patrício Poças. If Álvaro Calçada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. Raimundo Delgado came out of the goal and Carlos Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Que se abra o mar defense, Romão Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gino Britto. The Que se abra o mar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gino Britto should have stopped the shot. Que se abra o mar's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Garanhão do SUL had won, even though Que se abra o mar had held more of the ball.
