Desiderio Modestio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Seterma Tractors's Túlio de Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto Salbatore in the 17th minute of play. Eugênio Lago hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. When the match had been going on for 25 minutes, Vikingos FC's German Herensuge got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Túlio de Toledo. If Leon Garci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Leon Garci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vikingos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Leon Garci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Túlio de Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Gilberto Salbatore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Vikingos FC booed when Seterma Tractors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 61st match minute, Seterma Tractors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugênio Lago to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Desiderio Modestio in the 63rd minute of play forced Seterma Tractors's goalkeeper Túlio de Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 65 minutes, Severo Chale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vikingos FC and the Seterma Tractors players grew even worse after the yellow card.
