Corneliu Macamete made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Christiano Cearense hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Cezar Logofătu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Flávio Batista made a huge save. Itajaí Football Club were furious when William Arósio was red carded, 35 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The audience thought a goal was coming when Viorel Firu got free with Flávio Batista in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 39th minute Benê Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corneliu Macamete saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 47 played minutes, Itajaí Football Club's Juarês Gerber shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Corneliu Macamete came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Anselmo Madureira made the kick off in the second half. Corneliu Macamete showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Luís do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Alexandria Team08's zone, Christiano Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Corneliu Macamete came out of the goal and Christiano Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Alexandria Team08 booed when Itajaí Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Itajaí Football Club's Sílvio Luís do Nascimento slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Corneliu Macamete. That made the score 0-2 after 65 minutes of play. Codruț Giurăscu hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Corneliu Macamete was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Juarês Gerber. In the 80th minute Anselmo Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corneliu Macamete saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 86 minutes, Sílvio Luís do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itajaí Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luís do Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Adam Butnaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
