Spectators: 7749 (Terracing: 5813, Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 154) Independente FC's Ezequiel Barral started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bradly Gray came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente FC's Ezequiel Barral. But to his dismay, Ezequiel Barral quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Nestor Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keith Braxton, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Vítor Rodrigues in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bradly Gray saved New England Minas from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Jim Jennings put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nestor Quintal. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Gilberto Gonçalves got a free kick in the 33rd minute. When Jonas Esteves fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave Jonas Esteves a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Independente FC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Jonas Esteves hit a great ball. In the 45thth minute of the game José Vítor Rodrigues who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New England Minas's Bradly Gray was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 47 minutes of play, Independente FC's Benedito Trancoso made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bradly Gray was left in no man's land by his defense there!

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Keith Braxton was the one to do the kick off. Zé Carlos de Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Independente FC's Nestor Quintal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Independente FC from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute, Gilberto Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bradly Gray didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Vítor Rodrigues went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score. The New England Minas supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing New England Minas would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
