In the 6th minute José Vítor Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeferino Távora saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Tasso FC's goalkeeper Zeferino Távora had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Vítor Rodrigues. In the 16th minute, Tasso FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Zé Carlos de Azevedo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Nestor Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrício Tomé, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Tasso FC's zone, Ezequiel Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zeferino Távora came out of the goal and Ezequiel Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 27 minutes into the game, Diego Mendonça cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Nestor Quintal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zeferino Távora showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ezequiel Barral in the 34th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Ezequiel Barral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zeferino Távora was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. When Patrício Tomé fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tasso FC's protests and gave Patrício Tomé a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th match minute, Tasso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrício Tomé to maneuver through the defense. Diego Mendonça scored 0-2 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nestor Quintal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 43 minutes, Gilberto Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ezequiel Barral to make the kick off. Zé Carlos de Azevedo scored 2-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zeferino Távora, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If José Vítor Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Vítor Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeferino Távora having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Paulo Soares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zeferino Távora was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. When Benedito Trancoso came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Independente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedito Trancoso couldn't finish the play. In the 76th minute, Diego Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Tasso FC's Patrício Tomé got a free kick in the 78th minute. Zé Carlos de Azevedo's late challenge caught a Tasso FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Carlos de Azevedo helped the player get up and apologised. 84 minutes into the match, Patrício Tomé notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Independente FC's Nestor Quintal. Nestor Quintal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Tasso FC defense, José Vítor Rodrigues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zeferino Távora. The Tasso FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zeferino Távora should have stopped the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Independente FC had played much better football throughout.
