NAPOLI's Concetto Vianello got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of S.S.C. NAPOLI booed when Club Atlético Magallanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inocencio Theobald didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Andres Emmanuel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Magallanes's supporters rose to their feet, but Andres Emmanuel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carter Di Nino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 19th minute, S.S.C. NAPOLI's Frank Carlucci dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Club Atlético Magallanes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilio Felicetti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 47th minute, Frank Carlucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Barone made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Concetto Vianello ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alonzo Romano was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 61 minutes into the game, Frank Carlucci cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Alonzo Romano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 64th minute, Armando Barone left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.S.C. NAPOLI fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 77 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Magallanes's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Carlucci came free, but Alonzo Romano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
