Stiinta-Univ.'s Horaţiu Macamete proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Stiinta-Univ. from getting a goal against them. When Horea Panaitoiu, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 16 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Horaţiu Macamete was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 18th minute, Traian Lupescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Dărmănescu in the 22nd minute of play forced Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper Horaţiu Macamete to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Niculae Frumuzache came free, but Horaţiu Macamete reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dacian Iurea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurențiu Muntean in the 26th minute of the match. Laurențiu Muntean might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dacian Iurea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laurențiu Muntean ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 29th match minute, Stiinta-Univ. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Coposu to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the game, Basarab Arotăriței recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Horaţiu Macamete. Basarab Arotăriței showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. The supporters of Stiinta-Univ. booed when FC Berea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Panțâru didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Horea Panaitoiu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horaţiu Macamete. Stiinta-Univ.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Horea Panaitoiu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 41st minute Laurențiu Muntean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Iurea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horaţiu Macamete made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Niculae Frumuzache sent off a good shot on target. Niculae Frumuzache struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Horaţiu Macamete didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Berea. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Horea Panaitoiu to strike the kick off in the second half. 60 minutes into the game, Traian Lupescu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dacian Iurea. Traian Lupescu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. FC Berea's Sabin Vâlcu was substituted for Horea Panaitoiu. If Sabin Vâlcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Berea's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
