The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Piast Choszczno's goal looked a bit too open when Clayton Vella came free, but Mieszko Skrzypiec reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 8 minutes into the match, Piast Choszczno's goal looked a bit too open when Carlo Markham came free, but Mieszko Skrzypiec reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mieszko Skrzypiec showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clayton Vella, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Edward Gruppetta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mieszko Skrzypiec. Piast Choszczno's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Gruppetta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Mieszko Skrzypiec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Gruppetta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. William Manicolo took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mieszko Skrzypiec. Mieszko Skrzypiec dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 22nd match minute, Piast Choszczno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mieszko Kochowski to maneuver through the defense. Seraċini Għawdxin's Dejan Cumbo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Seraċini Għawdxin from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clayton Vella in the 28th minute of play forced Piast Choszczno's goalkeeper Mieszko Skrzypiec to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Seraċini Għawdxin's goalkeeper Dejan Cumbo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Beniamin Nakoneczny. Mieszko Skrzypiec came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Seraċini Għawdxin's Carlo Markham. But to his dismay, Carlo Markham quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Mieszko Skrzypiec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Gruppetta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mieszko Skrzypiec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlo Markham in the 39th minute of play. In the 43rd minute Clayton Vella shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mieszko Skrzypiec saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dejan Cumbo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zbigniew Skaradowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remigiusz Zbydniewski was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 46 minutes into the match. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Piast Choszczno! After the first half Seraċini Għawdxin were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clayton Vella made a kick off. In the 57th minute, Seraċini Għawdxin's Edward Gruppetta ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mieszko Skrzypiec. Mieszko Skrzypiec yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlo Markham got free with Mieszko Skrzypiec in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Clayton Vella could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Mieszko Skrzypiec made a huge save. Aleksander Rudy hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Zbigniew Skaradowski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dejan Cumbo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Mieszko Skrzypiec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godwin Spagnol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Piast Choszczno's Mieszko Kochowski got a free kick in the 72nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luca Callus during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 74 played minutes Seraċini Għawdxin got a freekick which was hit by Luca Callus. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling William Manicolo in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mieszko Skrzypiec prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 79 played minutes Carlo Markham rounded Piast Choszczno's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-7. When Damazy Merski came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Piast Choszczno fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damazy Merski couldn't finish the play. Mieszko Skrzypiec showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Gruppetta in the 84th minute of the match. Edward Gruppetta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mieszko Skrzypiec came out and tried to block the shot, but Edward Gruppetta slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Seraċini Għawdxin's zone, Damazy Merski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dejan Cumbo came out of the goal and Damazy Merski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mieszko Skrzypiec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Manicolo in the 94th minute of play. After 95 minutes, Steve Rizzo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seraċini Għawdxin and the Piast Choszczno players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 96th minute of the match Lucjan Tylenda shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dejan Cumbo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Seraċini Għawdxin defense, Damazy Merski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dejan Cumbo. The Seraċini Għawdxin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dejan Cumbo should have stopped the shot.
