When Godwin Spagnol fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Seraċini Għawdxin's protests and gave Godwin Spagnol a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes Seraċini Għawdxin got a freekick which was hit by Godwin Spagnol. Joe Petroni charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joe Petroni the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 8 minutes into the match, C. A. Potrero's Serafino Geofredo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dejan Cumbo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Javier Steven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Gruppetta in the 10th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Gruppetta in the 11th minute of play forced C. A. Potrero:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for C. A. Potrero. Javier Steven had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Clayton Vella's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball In the 34th minute Clayton Vella shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Javier Steven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute, Luca Callus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Javier Steven was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Javier Steven successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Serafino Geofredo to strike the kick off in the second half. Dejan Cumbo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Argenis in the 52nd minute of the match. Potrero's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Callus came free, but Javier Steven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niceto Lehior who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Dejan Cumbo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 72nd minute, Niceto Lehior got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Seraċini Għawdxin's zone, Alejo Nerio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dejan Cumbo came out of the goal and Alejo Nerio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Seraċini Għawdxin's Dejan Cumbo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Seraċini Għawdxin from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Seraċini Għawdxin defense, Niceto Lehior kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dejan Cumbo. The Seraċini Għawdxin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dejan Cumbo should have stopped the shot. Desiderio Heriberto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the C. A. Potrero players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Seraċini Għawdxin.
