When Uxio Agosta fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unikurdos United F.C.'s protests and gave Uxio Agosta a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Unikurdos United F.C. getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Uxio Agosta hit a great ball. Rogelio Madeo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edson Soret having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Osorio Pecha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Unikurdos United F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vélez Juniors the free kick. After 11 played minutes Unikurdos United F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Osorio Pecha. Enrique Urtsin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Uxio Agosta's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Emilio Serafo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Edson Soret tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vélez Juniors's Enrique Urtsin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uxio Agosta in the 18th minute of play. Dionisio Monico charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dionisio Monico the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Vélez Juniors getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Dionisio Monico hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute, Frascuelo Casado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Hernan Gonchan came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Vélez Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernan Gonchan couldn't finish the play. Rogelio Madeo might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edson Soret. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rogelio Madeo ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 27 minutes, Rogelio Madeo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vélez Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogelio Madeo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leheren Duro in the 31st minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Enrique Urtsin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Vélez Juniors's Sergio Gai got a free kick in the 38th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rogelio Madeo was the one to do the kick off. Edson Soret stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rogelio Madeo's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Unikurdos United F.C.'s zone, Emilio Serafo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edson Soret came out of the goal and Emilio Serafo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vélez Juniors's Sergio Gai got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vélez Juniors's Enrique Urtsin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Vélez Juniors from getting a goal against them. Vélez Juniors's Dionisio Monico got his second yellow card of the match in the 66th minute. The referee ordered Dionisio Monico off the ground. The supporters of Unikurdos United F.C. booed when Vélez Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionisio Monico didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uxio Agosta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Enrique Urtsin made a huge save. With a little luck, Vélez Juniors's Enrique Urtsin got control of the ball when Uxio Agosta tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emilio Serafo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edson Soret read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Uxio Agosta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
