Ruy Machado took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Israel Contreras. Israel Contreras dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, CA Portugália's Elano Neiva got a free kick in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Negri in the 17th minute of play forced OROTINENSE's goalkeeper Israel Contreras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in OROTINENSE's zone, Pedrão Saldanha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Israel Contreras came out of the goal and Pedrão Saldanha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Israel Contreras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrão Saldanha in the 22nd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Christiano Alves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CA Portugália fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When Virgilio Merino fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored OROTINENSE's protests and gave Virgilio Merino a yellow card for diving instead. CA Portugália's Álvaro Zanette played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Duran in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Teodoro Barrantes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Álvaro Zanette. The goal made the score 1-2. 41 minutes into the match, OROTINENSE's goal looked a bit too open when Christiano Alves came free, but Israel Contreras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Israel Contreras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrão Saldanha in the 42nd minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabio Pacheco was the one to do the kick off. Evandro Barros's late challenge caught a OROTINENSE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some careless play in the CA Portugália defense, Gabriel Duran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Álvaro Zanette. The CA Portugália fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Álvaro Zanette should have stopped the shot. Álvaro Zanette showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Duran, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 86th minute of the match Mikael Viquez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Álvaro Zanette skillfully saved the ball. After 89 minutes, Valentin Talamanca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the OROTINENSE and the CA Portugália players grew even worse after the yellow card.
