The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Melbourne 007 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmund Bower to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Melbourne 007 defense, Reine Eliasson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jasmine Kuch. The Melbourne 007 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jasmine Kuch should have stopped the shot. The Shadows's Gordon Banks proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save The Shadows from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, The Shadows's Bo-Erik Anselius got a free kick in the 15th minute. Fred Arenius kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Jake Hunn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Gordon Banks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24thth minute of the game Oscar Bratt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Melbourne 007's Jasmine Kuch was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Matthew Whitmore kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The supporters of Melbourne 007 booed when The Shadows was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bo-Erik Anselius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dan Shortis kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Sune Kvalfält sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Melbourne 007's Jasmine Kuch didn't even have to move. 39 minutes into the game, The Shadows's Oscar Bratt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jasmine Kuch made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Jeremy Dalglish hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute, Sune Kvalfält got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When The Shadows's Oscar Bratt in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 59thth minute of the game Brook Yard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Shadows's Gordon Banks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Brook Yard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gordon Banks was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Oscar Bratt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Jasmine Kuch made a huge save. Jasmine Kuch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reine Eliasson in the 84th minute of play. Gordon Banks stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brook Yard's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Melbourne 007's Jasmine Kuch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Bratt in the 90th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Brook Yard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gordon Banks was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. Jasmine Kuch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Bratt in the 95th minute of play. The The Shadows supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing The Shadows would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
