The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raul Fresco got free with Geraldo Queiroz in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edu Mangueira lost his temper 13 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 13th match minute, Rockets was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. Gastres FC's Marco Endura got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dudu Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Geraldo Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pablo Bide, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucas Cesaro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dudu Madureira's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Geraldo Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pablo Bide, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. A collision led to Rockets getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Fabinho Mattos hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute Pablo Bide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raul Fresco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Geraldo Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gastres FC's Godfredo Oihan got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Raul Fresco to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th match minute, Gastres FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Fresco to maneuver through the defense. Raul Fresco's late challenge caught a Rockets's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raul Fresco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 60th match minute, Gastres FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Fresco to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Raul Fresco notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Rockets's Geraldo Queiroz.
