Lutz Ertel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alf Kleinert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dobromir Fafinski in the 7th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Karsten Wolsch in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zbyszko Duda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 12th minute, Lutz Ertel made a precise shot to the right of Zbyszko Duda. Purple Shadows's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Harry Rupp sped through Purple Shadows's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zbyszko Duda. The supporters of Purple Shadows booed when Hertha 1969 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andi Godescheid didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Adi Köhler hit a great ball. Adi Köhler kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Harry Rupp charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Lutz Ertel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Zbyszko Duda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the game, Hertha 1969's Karsten Wolsch nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zbyszko Duda made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After 43 minutes, Marcus Kraatz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hertha 1969 and the Purple Shadows players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcus Kraatz hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute Zula Scislowicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Kleinert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lutz Ertel to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Karsten Wolsch notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Purple Shadows's Zbyszko Duda. Zbyszko Duda was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 69th minute, Jedrzej Miodek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd match minute, Purple Shadows was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boguslaw Lamczyk to maneuver through the defense. Andi Godescheid came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Zbyszko Duda could save by the left post. Nico Bell hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Alf Kleinert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pawel Pieprz in the 85th minute of the match. Alf Kleinert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boguslaw Lamczyk in the 87th minute of play. In the 90th minute Lutz Ertel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zbyszko Duda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
